Janisa Johnson (September 22, 1991 – May 25, 2024) passed away on May 25 after a long battle with colon cancer.
She was 32.

A standout from CSU Long Beach, Johnson played in the Premier Volleyball League from 2018 to 2019.
The explosive 173 cm tall spiker made her mark with NUNS-Bali Pure in 2018, playing alongside notable athletes such as Alyssa Solomon, Mhicaela Belen, Jennifer Nierva, Faith Nisperos, and Ivy Lacsina.
In 2019, she joined Petro Gazz for the Reinforced Conference.
Teaming up with Wilma Salas, Johnson helped lead the Angels to their first-ever championship.
Johnson’s career continued internationally with Radomka S.A. in Poland. However, her promising career was interrupted in March 2021 when she was diagnosed with colon cancer.
Janisa Johnson will be remembered for her contributions to volleyball and her resilience in the face of adversity.
