PSL: Wilson, Davao Occi school young Pampanga Royce in OT thriller


John Wilson came through with 20 points and eight rebounds as defending champion Davao Occidental-Cocolife carved out a thrilling 90-87 overtime decision over gritty Pampanga Royce Hotel last Wednesday night in the Manila Bankers Life-Pilipinas Super League Pro Division Second Conference Dumper Cup at the Bren Z. Guiao Convention Center in San Fernando.

Larry Rodriguez also chipped in 18 markers and 13 boards, while Renzo Subido had 13 and two assists.

Jade Talampas also added 10 points and three boards as the Tigers snapped a mini two-game slide, counting an 84-87 loss to the Pampanga G Lanterns last Feb. 10 and hiked their mark to 10-3 for solo third in the joust presented by Dumper party-list, Winzir, and Skin Care Depot, co-presented by SCD Cosmetics, and supported by NET 25, Adcon, Wcube Solutions Inc., MDC, Unisol, Don Benitos, and Finn Cotton, with PBA and Gilas Pilipinas great Marc Pingris serving as Commissioner.

Pampanga Royce, coming off an 85-61 thrashing of Sta. Rosa Laguna last Saturday, fell to 11-2, still good for second.

In the other game, 1Munti edged Nueva Ecija 98-95.

JB Bahio paced Pampanga Royce with 13 points and 11 caroms, while Allen Liwag and Ken Villapando had 12 markers each.

Jolo Mendoza and JC Cullar also combined for 22 for Pampanga Royce.
