King Gallardo hit a clutch three-point shot in the closing seconds, lifting the New Era University Hunters to a thrilling 63-61 victory over the San Juan Kings in the 21U championship of the Pilipinas Super League at the Central Recreational Fitness Center Gym inside the NEU compound in Quezon City recently.
Vincent Nablo was named the Most Valuable Player after leading the Hunters with 20 points and seven assists.
Aside from sinking the title-clinching three-pointer, Gallardo also provided solid support for NEU with 19 points and nine rebounds.
Hunters coach Jay Agsalud attributed their title-clinching victory to their strong defense, which helped offset a series of turnovers early in the game.
“The players’ bond and camaraderie, traits that constitute the team’s culture, were also instrumental,” said Agsalud.
Nablo, on the other hand, expressed his gratitude to the NEU community for their support throughout their PSL run.
