It’s not just in the ongoing 10th Philippine Ching Yuen Athletic Association season where Xavier School is making strides.
The Golden Stallions recently dominated the Private Schools Athletic Development Association’s Chess Tournament, taking down the juniors’ division.
The Juniors team of Lance Wentworth Chong, Ivan Cu, Jericho Cu, Ryan Taguba, Tristan Wong, and Josh See ended the four-round meet with 11 points on three wins and a draw.
The Xavier juniors’ closest competitor was San Beda College-Alabang, who finished the tournament with 10 points — their sole defeat coming at the hands of the Stallions.
La Salle Green Hills placed third with 8.5 points while International School Manila (5.5) and Ateneo High School (5), ended up in fourth and fifth place, respectively.
Meanwhile, the Midgets squad of Nathan Valdez, Jian Siy, Xander Lim, Matthew Chang, Philip Gregory Pe, and Karl Fajardo placed second in their division after racking up 7.5 points built on two wins and a loss.
Ateneo High School swept the field with 11 points. ISM finished third with 4 markers while LSGH finished last with 1.5 points.
