Poy Erram out for two weeks

Poy Erram will be sidelined for two weeks after suffering an elbow injury during the NLEX Road Warriors’ 2019 PBA Governors’ Cup opener versus Phoenix Pulse Fuel Masters Saturday.

In a report by Jonas Terrado of the Manila Bulletin Sunday, the 6-foot-7 center sustained a collateral ligament sprain. He will have to wear an arm sling for a week.

With this, Erram is expected to miss at least four games — including NLEX’s games in Dubai on October 4 and 5. NLEX will go up against the San Miguel Beermen and Ginebra, respectively.

Erram got hurt with 11:17 to go in the second quarter. Opposing big man Dave Marcelo appeared to pull his left arm while they were battling for the rebound.

The six-year pro left the match afterward. He did not return, and was brought to the hospital.

NLEX head coach Yeng Guiao then accused Marcelo of intentionally hurting Erram, adding that he hopes the PBA will look into it. But Marcelo denied the claims, saying that it was just an accident.

Commissioner Willie Marcial said that the league will review the game tape on Monday to assess the incident.
