John Galinato led National University to its second straight win after defeating Guang Ming College, 72-63, in Group Prime of the 2023 Pinoyliga Collegiate Cup on Friday at the Philippine Budhhacare Academy.
Galinato spearheaded the Bulldogs with 16 points, four steals, a rebound, and an assist, contributing to the 3-1 record of the Bulldogs. Kenshin Padrones supplied 14 points, seven rebounds, three steals, an assist, and a block.
Mohamed Diassana also made significant contributions with five points, eight rebounds, and five blocks for NU.
Meanwhile, Kingsley Ududo was the sole double-digit scorer for the Flying Dragons, posting an impressive output of 15 points, 14 rebounds, three steals, and three blocks. Stephen Ihebem and CJ Dumalangan each scored nine points to support Ududo.
With the loss, Guang Ming saw its two-game winning streak snapped and dropped to the sixth spot with a 2-3 record.
In the Group Edge action, Allen Liwag lifted College of Saint Benilde to a thrilling 65-61 victory against Enderun College for its first win in three games.
The 6-foot-6 Liwag recorded a double-double with 11 points, 11 rebounds, two steals, an assist, and a block. Anton Eusebio played his best game for the Blazers, registering 18 points, three rebounds, two assists, and two blocks.
Jhomel Ancheta also contributed 10 points for the Blazers, along with three rebounds, four steals, and two assists.
On the other hand, Roby Castro led the way for the Titans with 14 points, four rebounds, and three assists, while TJ Abdulla and AJ Fransman produced 11 and 10 points, respectively. Hans Delos Reyes also added nine points for Enderun.
Enderun suffered its second straight loss in as many games.
