It’s been two days since Robert Bolick’s contract with Northport expired.
And when the Batang Pier faced the Phoenix Super LPG Fuel Masters on Wednesday, the third overall pick in the 2018 PBA Rookie Draft was once again nowhere to be found.
According to Northport team manager Pido Jarencio, Bolick has yet to sign the contract extension they have offered. Still, he is hopeful that the high-scoring guard out of San Beda will do so.
“Antayin lang natin siya. Basta kami, nag-submit na kami ng extension,” said Jarencio after their 108-97 loss to Phoenix.
“Medyo maayos din (usap namin), baka maayos na rin natin.”
There were murmurs that Bolick has already left the country last Friday and is already in Taiwan.
Though he heard about it, Jarencio said that it was not his story to tell.
“Wala akong alam dun. Mahirap magsagot kasi hindi ko talaga tunay na storya kung bakit hindi pa siya naglalaro,” he continued.
“Pagdating niya, siya mag-explain kung bakit hindi siya naglaro.”
Jarencio does not know when the stalemate between Northport and Bolick’s camp will end.
But for him, the Mikee Romero-owned franchise already did their part and exercised due diligence.
The ball is now on Bolick’s court whether to remain with Northport or go overseas.
“Wala namang problema. Basta kami, nandun pa rin kami sa stand namin sa kanya. Ngayon, siya yung problema hindi kami. On our part okay naman kami. Binigay namin e.”
