Pia Ildefonso will not be returning to Ateneo and has signed with Farm Fresh for the upcoming 2023 Premier Volleyball League Invitational Conference, as announced by the Foxies on their social media pages on Saturday morning.
“This player aims to rediscover her love for volleyball, and Farm Fresh is prepared to support her throughout the process. Together, we will reignite that fire,” said the team.
Ildefonso, a graduate of Nazareth School of National University, played her rookie year with the Blue Eagles in UAAP Season 84.
However, Ildefonso chose to skip her sophomore season to “face, fight, and grow through life’s battles outside the sport.”
“I want to fall back in love with the sport, and with the help of my talented and lovely teammates, I hope to achieve that through hard work and passion. There is so much to learn, especially from the veterans in the team, and that excites me,” said Ildefonso.
The daughter of former PBA star Danny Ildefonso expressed her desire for a fresh start with Farm Fresh.
Furthermore, she expressed her eagerness to learn under the guidance of head coach Jerry Yee.
“I simply wanted a fresh start, and what better way to achieve that than by joining a team that already embodies freshness in its name. Right now, I am someone who wants to learn more about the sport from one of the best coaches in the country,” explained the 21-year-old daughter of Danny Ildefonso, who is an assistant coach of another Frank Lao-backed team Converge.
Ildefonso will join former NCAA MVP Mycah Go and the core players from College of St. Benilde in the roster.
