Phoenix Super LPG has sent a counteroffer for the proposed trade that would send Vic Manuel to NorthPort.
It was earlier reported that NorthPort would send Sean Anthony to Phoenix for Vic Manuel and Michael Calisaan in a one-for-two swap.
The proposal though was nixed by the Fuel Masters, according to multiple sources closely monitoring the situation.
Instead, Phoenix Super LPG wants NorthPort to add 6-foot-5 utility forward Sean Manganti to sweeten the deal.
It is now up to the PBA office to approve the paperwork for the transaction to commence.
If the deal pushes through, Manuel’s stay in Phoenix would be short-lived as he only arrived to the Fuel Masters last February via a sign-and-trade with Alaska.
Manuel only played 11 games for Phoenix Super LPG during the 2021 PBA Philippine Cup, averaging 12.82 points, 5.27 rebounds, and 1.45 assists per game.
The 6-foot-4 bruiser out of Licab, Nueva Ecija was drafted by NorthPort as the ninth overall pick in the 2012 PBA Rookie Draft.
Calisaan, on the other hand, was picked up as a free agent by Phoenix Super LPG during the off-season, playing nine games there.
Anthony, an 11-year veteran, was hampered by an injury during the Philippine Cup. The 2019 PBA Defensive Player of the Year put up 10.63 points, 6.75 rebounds, 2.13 assists, and 1.5 steals per contest.
If the trade pushes through, Anthony will be playing in his seventh team.
Finally, Manganti was put in NorthPort’s 3×3 team to start the year. During his rookie season, he put up averages of 4.55 points, 2.91 rebounds, and 1.55 assists per game.
