Petro Gazz, Sta. Lucia decline AVC invitation

Petro Gazz and Sta. Lucia have begged off from joining the upcoming 2021 Asian Women’s Club Championship, which takes place from October 1 to 7 in Bangkok, Thailand.

Petro Gazz — the team that finished third in the 2021 PVL Open Conference — initially received the invite to the continental meet. They then had to decline due to injuries. Same with Choco Mucho.

On Wednesday, Sta. Lucia also had to forego the opportunity.

“After a thorough evaluation of the invitation and considering various factors, we have determined that present local and health requirements and regional conditions are not conducive to a safe and healthy competition.

“The safety of our entire delegation is first and primary in our decision,” read the team’s statement.

The Lady Realtors added that MJ Phillips and Dell Palomata are focused on training with the national team.

Earlier, champion Chery Tiggo and runner-up Creamline also declined the invite.

Next to received invites were Black Mamba-Army and PLDT, followed by BaliPure, Perlas, and Cignal.

For the Lady Realtors, it was a huge honor to have been invited.

“It is really unfortunate to pass up an opportunity like this. We are hoping that we could merit a second chance in future tournaments.”
