Petro Gazz to represent country in Taipei tourney

The Angels are set to spread their wings on international shores.

On Tuesday afternoon, Petro Gazz announced its participation in the 2019 Taichung Bank International Women’s Invitational Volleyball Tournament in Taipei City, Taiwan.

“‘Yung tournament sa Taipei is a big opportunity for our team. Ang mga kalaban namin are club teams from China, Japan, and Thailand; mataas talaga ‘yung level ng competition,” said Petro Gazz head coach Arnold Laniog, referring to the competition that will last from September 15 to 19.

The Petro Gazz mentor also said that Larong Volleyball sa Pilipinas, Inc. vested his team with the responsibility to represent the country in the overseas tilt.

The Premier Volleyball League Reinforced Conference Season 3 champions will compete without their prolific imports Wilma Salas and Janisa Johnson, both of whom are already abroad.

Instead, Petro Gazz will deploy the all-Filipino lineup that currently sits at the second spot with a 5-2 card in the ongoing PVL Open Conference.

Moreover, the role of captaincy falls on the shoulders of Chie Saet. The battle-tested playmaker will steer the 12-woman squad, which includes Paneng Mercado, Cherry Nunag, Djanel Cheng, Jessey de Leon, Kai Baloaloa, Rica Enclona, Alyssa Layug, Jonah Sabete, Cienne Cruz, Jeanette Panaga, and Jovie Prado.

“On our part, kaya naman tayo pumunta roon is para may ma-gain ‘yung team na experience ‘yung team sa ganitong level na makatulong sa mga campaign namin dito sa ongoing PVL Open Conference at iba pa,” Laniog bared.
