PBA: San Miguel gets lucky vs Meralco ahead of Converge clash

San Miguel was lucky enough to avert disaster and escape the also-ran Meralco, 113-108, in the PBA Commissioner’s Cup, Friday at the Philsports Arena.

The Beermen saw their 25-point lead become just three with 10.4 seconds left, but got away with a crucial non-call as Marcio Lassiter’s backcourt violation was not whistled by the referees, and Devon Scott finished the match via free throws.

Entering the quarterfinals as the hottest team with four straight win, the fifth-seed SMB will take on the No. 4 Converge in a best-of-three series.

The second game of each PBA gameday is live-streamed on SMART Sports.
