The Philippine Basketball Association (PBA) has decided to postpone its Season 50 Philippine Cup games scheduled for November 9 due to Super Typhoon Uwan.
The Sunday double-header was set to feature TNT against Magnolia and Barangay Ginebra taking on the new team Titan Ultra. Both games were originally slated to be held at the Ynares Center II in Montalban.
“In light of the incoming Super Typhoon Uwan, and with the safety of our fans, players, officials, and staff as our top priority, the PBA has decided to postpone its Sunday, November 9 games,” the league said in a Saturday announcement.
The league added that the games will be rescheduled to a later date, with updates to be communicated through its official channels.
The Tropang 5G were set to put their four-game winning streak on the line against a Hotshots team aiming for a quick rebound after a narrow loss to Don Trollano and San Miguel Beer on Friday night.
Meanwhile, both the Kings and the Giant Risers were eager to sustain their winning ways after strong performances in their previous games, hoping for a turnaround following rocky starts to the season.
Ginebra, for one, is coming off a 104-74 rout of the erstwhile joint leaders NLEX, while Titan Ultra was fresh from a 97-86 victory over Blackwater.
As it stands, TNT is co-leading the team standings with Rain or Shine, as two of the league’s perennial contenders share similar 5-1 records. Ginebra sits at No. 8 with a 2-3 record, while the league newcomers occupy ninth place with two wins in six games.
