PBA: Oftana drops 39 as TNT survives Pogoy injury, escapes ROS in OT for 2-0 lead

TNT lost yet another star but still found a way to come out victorious as it escaped Rain or Shine in overtime, 113-105, to take a 2-0 lead in the PBA Season 49 Philippine Cup semifinals, Friday night at the Ninoy Aquino Stadium.

The Tropang 5G saw Roger Pogoy leave Game 2 for good early in the second due to an apparent leg injury. Then things turned from bad to worse when they squandered a 90-76 lead and stared at a 99-96 deficit late in regulation.

But Calvin Oftana came through in the clutch, fishing for a foul from beyond the arc and went on to make all three to eventually send the game into extra time.

He’d made his presence felt in OT as well, knocking down a three, which Kelly Williams followed up with another. Then Poy Erram scored inside as the trio combined for the decisive 8-0 run to a 109-101 lead with 2:23 left to play.

Oftana starred in the triumph with 39 points alongside nine rebounds as he carried much of the load on offense with his ‘amigo’ out in pain.
