The Philippine Basketball Association will summon Calvin Abueva, Bobby Ray Parks, Jr., and Parks’ girlfriend Maika Rivera after the claims they raised against one another, Friday evening.
“Papapuntahin ko next week para klaro side niya,” said league commissioner Willie Marcial about Abueva.
Marcial emphasized that even if Rivera is involved with Parks, she is still a fan and thus a guest of the league.
During Friday night’s tilt pitting Phoenix against Blackwater, Parks – through Rivera – raised to the members of the press that Abueva called his girlfriend the b-word and even made sexual gestures towards her.
“You don’t do that – kababaeng tao nun!” questioned Parks, Jr., who also demanded a public apology from Abueva.
In a phone interview, Abueva claimed that Rivera flipped him off and also called him a “monkey”, which ticked him off. Moreover, he refuses to apologize for his actions.
“Bakit ako magpa-public apology?
“Nasa court tayo, wala naman tayo sa labas. Bakit, sino ba may mali dun? Ako ba nauna?” Abueva said.
Marcial tapped PBA’s legal counsel Melvin Mendoza as an arbitrator.
For his part, Marcial apologized to Rivera on behalf of the league. “Nag-sorry ako kasi fan eh. Kahit sino man yun, fan pa rin natin yun.”
