Zavier Lucero has slid down to the fifth overall pick in the 2023 PBA Rookie Draft, going to Northport on Sunday afternoon at Market! Market! in Taguig.
Lucero, 23, is still currently recovering from an ACL tear he sustained during Game Two of the UAAP Season 85 Men’s Basketball Finals.
His timetable for a return is set for January.
Still, the 6-foot-6 forward is worth the wait.
During his first three years at Calstate Maritime, Lucero averaged 15.0 points on 49.3-percent shooting and 8.3 rebounds. During the 2019-20 season alone, he normed team-highs 19.4 markers and 10.2 boards per contest.
In his first year at University of the Philippines, he averaged 12.83 points, 7.94 rebounds, 1.67 assists, 1.28 steals, and 1.0 blocks per game.
Though his numbers dipped in his second year — averaging 11.24 points, 6.29 rebounds, 2.12 assists, and 1.35 steals, he was able to prove that he was a team player during that time.
Definitely, Lucero is a steal for Northport .
