The PBA is doing away with tradition in this year’s Draft.
Instead of giving out jackets, the league will provide team jerseys to players that will be selected in the awaited proceedings slated on July 14.
Along with the jersey comes the usual team caps.
It should be a welcome development especially among fans, who have been critical of the draft jackets that have long been a part of the annual event.
While others opined that it does not go well with the formal attire of players, some have taken notice of how the zip-ups do not fit the draftees sometimes.
Apparently, the league is listening to the fans’ sentiments.
Seventy players applied for the Season 49 Rookie Draft but that number would be pruned down after the ongoing Combine at the Ynares Sports Arena.
Justine Baltazar and Sedrick Barefield are the consensus top two picks of this year’s class that also features former college stars and ex-overseas cagers.
Some notable names include RJ Abarrientos, Dave Ildefonso, Caelan Tiongson, Jonnel Policarpio, CJ Cansino, and Evan Nelle, among others.
The Draft is set at the Glorietta 4 Activity Center in Makati.
