Calvin Oftana bags Order of Merit, Arvin Tolentino named PBA Scoring Champion

Calvin Oftana and Arvin Tolentino will be among the honorees at the 31st PBA Press Corps Annual Awards Night, set for October 13 at the Novotel Manila.

Oftana will receive the Order of Merit after earning the most Player of the Week citations in Season 49. Meanwhile, Tolentino will be recognized as the Scoring Champion for posting the league’s highest scoring average.

The TNT forward was hailed Player of the Week four times during the season, playing a vital role in Tropang Giga’s run to all three conference finals, highlighted by championship victories in the Governors’ Cup and Commissioner’s Cup.

Tolentino, meanwhile, powered NorthPort with his offensive brilliance, norming 21.2 points per game en route to becoming the season’s top scorer.

His stellar campaign also earned him his first-ever Best Player of the Conference award after steering the Batang Pier to the semifinals of the Commissioner’s Cup.

Both Oftana and Tolentino were also part of the First Mythical Team in the recent PBA Leo Awards, joining nine-time MVP June Mar Fajardo, CJ Perez, and Robert Bolick.
