PBA D-League: Jollo Go, Juan GDL link up as Marinerong Pilipino downs Apex Fuel-Baste

Jollo Go stole the thunder from Juan Gomez de Liaño and Kemark Carino, guiding Marinerong Pilipino to an 86-74 triumph over Apex Fuel-San Sebastian College Recoletos in the 2022 PBA D-League Aspirants Cup, Saturday at the SMART Araneta Coliseum.

Go – a pick in the third round during the 2022 PBA Rookie Draft – finished with 23 points and 10 assists.

Juan Gomez de Liaño got 20 points, seven rebounds, and seven assists to negate his seven turnovers. Kemark Carino, on the other hand, saw himself limited to just six points, seven rebounds, and three blocks.

“Masaya na nakuha namin yung first win namin. Pero still, ang dami pang lapses na dapat i-correct, so hopefully sa darating na games mabawasan,” said coach Yong Garcia as Marinerong Pilipino.

Marinerong Pilipino jumped to an early 16-point lead. Then the Stags fought back and sliced it down to just four, 71-67, with 7:01 left.

The backcourt duo of Go and Gomez de Liaño triggered the Skippers’ 10-0 run that gave them an 81-67 lead with 2:41 remaining to avert a meltdown.

Warren Bonificaio also delivered with 10 points and six rebounds.

Ichie Altamirano paced the Golden Stags with 17 points, while Raymart Escobido got 13 points on 4-of-13 shooting from the field.
