It will be status quo for Converge for now.
The appointment of Pampanga Governor Dennis “Delta” Pineda as the team governor of Converge has been denied by the PBA board of governors in their monthly meeting on Tuesday.
Multiple sources closely monitoring the situation confirmed the development to Tiebreaker Times.
After the FiberXers’ season ended last month, the team reshuffled its ranks, appointing Pineda as team governor while sliding former commissioner Chito Salud to an alternate role.
However, PBA regulations state that appointments of such matters need a majority vote from the board of governors which Pineda did not get.
According to insiders, “political reasons” were cited as the reason for the rejection.
This was the same reason why Cong. Mikee Romero of Northport is no longer active in the league’s board and is “only” a team owner.
Pineda was the team manager of Converge prior to his appointment as team governor.
