PBA: Asistio, Santillan deliver in endgame as Rain or Shine escapes TNT

Anton Asistio and Santi Santillan were big in the clutch, lifting Rain or Shine to a 106-100 victory over upset-seeking TNT in the 2023 PBA on Tour on Wednesday at Ynares Sports Arena in Pasig.

With the game tied at 98-all, Asistio scored on back-to-back buckets to give Rain or Shine the lead.

After a bucket by Dave Marcelo, Santillan delivered the dagger three for the Elasto Painters to go ahead 105-100 with 37 seconds left to play.

“Sobrang saya dahil limang tira ko yata, ‘yon lang napasok eh so sobrang saya dahil parang momentum din sa’min,” Santillan said.

Gian Mamuyac led the scoring with 21 points to go along with 10 rebounds to help seal the deal for Rain Or Shine.

The Tropang Giga led the early minutes of the fourth quarter until the Elasto Painters sparked a 9-2 run to bring the favor to their squad, 96-94, with 3:38 left to play.

Glenn Khobuntin did it on both ends for TNT, tallying a double-double, 24 points and 15 rebounds, to go along with three steals.

Jaydee Tungcab contributed 16 markers, six boards, and four dimes, while Kib Montalbo and Carl Cruz both added 12 points as well.

TNT will look to tally their first win against Ginebra on July 21, Friday at 7:30 p.m. at the same Pasig venue. (Jose Gabriel Ignacio)
