PBA 3×3 pushed back as 5-on-5 to start first

The Philippine Basketball Association’s maiden 3×3 season has been postponed.

This as the league has deemed to start its 5-on-5 season first before pushing through with its 3×3 league.

“Paano sila (3×3) magpa-practice? Saan sila puwede mag-practice, Batangas lang. E, gamit-gamit ng mga teams yung mga gyms. Kulang sa oras,” said PBA Commissioner Willie Marcial on the league’s official website.

Nine PBA teams are training in Batangas, sharing three venues. On the other hand, TNT and Meralco are in Ilocos while NLEX is in Clark.

The teams were forced to practice in provinces as NCR-plus is still under General Community Quarantine with Heightened Restrictions.

However, 3×3 teams have yet to train which has led to the decision to delay the opener of the tournament.

“So mauna na muna sigurado ang 5-on-5 tapos tsaka pa yung 3×3,” he continued.

A total of 16 teams have committed to join PBA 3×3 — including 10 of its member teams.

Phenom BRT Sumisip took the spot of Blackwater. Guest teams are Zamboanga Valientes, Master Sardines, Geanaux Systems Corporation, Big Boss Cement, and Pioneer Epoxy.
