PBA 3×3: Ken Bono tows San Miguel to top Pool B

San Miguel continued its winning streak in the PBA 3×3 Season 3 as it kicked off its campaign in Leg 2 with back-to-back impressive victories on Monday at Ayala Mall Circuit.

Led by veteran Ken Bono, the Beermen defeated Northport, 21-9, and Pioneer Elastoseal, 21-18, consecutively, securing the top spot in Pool B with a perfect 2-0 record.

These wins put the Beermen in a strong position to advance to Tuesday’s knockout stage, which will also take place at the same venue in Makati.

Last week, San Miguel made it to the quarterfinals of Leg 1, where they surprised everyone by upsetting grand slam winner TNT and the second-seeded Cavitex to reach the finals.

However, the Beermen fell short of clinching the championship and the P100,000 prize money as they lost to the Kings in overtime, 19-17.

Meanwhile, Meralco brought Ginebra back down to earth with a 21-14 victory, just six days after the latter won the championship in the opening leg.

However, the Bolts couldn’t maintain their momentum and lost their next game against TNT Triple Giga, 15-10, finishing their Pool A campaign with an even 1-1 record.

On the other hand, the race for quarterfinal berths in Pool C is too close to call, as all four teams—Cavitex, Terrafirma, Blackwater, and Purefoods—currently hold identical 1-1 records.

Razor Sharp started Leg 2 with a commanding 22-16 victory over Terrafirma but stumbled against Cavitex, losing 20-15.

The Braves suffered a 20-17 defeat against Purefoods, only for the Titans to be defeated by the Dyip, 21-16.
