At age 35, Paul Lee knows that his playing career is entering its twilight years. That is why, even now, he is beginning his transition to coaching.
The three-time PBA champion has been tapped as one of the assistant coaches by Raymond Valenzona for La Consolacion College Manila.
The LCCM Blue Royals play in the ISAA.
For Lee, he could not say no to Valenzona’s call. Valenzona was the one who discovered him and brought him to San Sebastian College-Recoletos.
“Very happy and thankul na naging part ako ng coaching staff. Very excited na nasimulan ko ng mas maaga yung another chapter sa buhay ko,” said Lee.
“Nandito kami para ma-guide sa kanila along the way.”
Joining him is another former Staglet, Eric Salamat.
“Very, very excited ako, nung tinawagan ako ni Coach Raymond to help the team. Hindi na kami nagdalawang-isip nila Paul kasi sa ganitong liga rin kami nagsimula,” said Salamat, a two-time UAAP champion at Ateneo de Manila University.
Raymond will have his legendary father, Arturo, serve as a consultant for the team.
Completing the staff are Art Paul Valenzona, Macoy Fajardo, and June Dizon.
“Goal natin is una, ma-familiarize yung mga players sa bagong sistema na i-introduce natin sa kanila and to develop yung skills nila. This team if full of talent and potential,” said Coach Raymond.
The Blue Royals are the defending champions of ISAA.
