TNT Triple Giga is embarking on another journey overseas.
PBA 3×3’s most decorated team is set to compete in the World Hoops FIBA 3×3 Penang Challenger 2023 on June 10-11 in Malaysia.
The MVP team will be representing Pasig City in the tournament that serves as a qualifier to the FIBA 3×3 World Tour Macau Masters in July.
“That’s what we are aiming for,” head coach Mau Belen told Tiebreaker Times.
Belen will be bringing top gunner Almond Vosotros, Ping Exciminiano, Gryann Mendoza, and Beninese big man Raoul Odou in Penang.
Exciminiano, Mendoza, and Odou were with Samboy de Leon in conquering the inaugural Asia Tour 3×3 last April at SM Mall of Asia in Pasay.
Vosotros, meanwhile, is coming off a silver medal finish with Gilas PIlipinas 3×3 in the 32nd Southeast Asian Games in Phnom Penh, Cambodia.
Groupings have yet to be finalized but Pasig TNT’s mettle will surely be tested as the 14-team field is headlined by 3×3 elites Utsunomiya and NY Harlem.
“We want to get an experience playing the best 3×3 teams in the world,” said Belen. the architect of the first-ever PBA 3×3 Grand Slam.
TNT’s focus for now, though, is on the Red Bull Half Court National Finals this weekend in Taguig, for a chance to represent the Philippines in Serbia.
