During the launch of the ASEAN Basketball League’s 10th season held at the Grand Ballroom of the Conrad Hotel in Pasay Thursday, the league hailed its 10 best players.
And three Filipinos cracked the list.
Three-time ABL Local MVP Bobby Ray Parks, Jr.; 2012 Local MVP Leo Avenido; and 2014 Finals MVP Jerick Cañada were the three representatives of the Philippines to the all-time squad.
Parks played in the ABL for three years, winning the league’s top plum in all three years and the championship during the eighth season of the league. He posted norms of 16.9 points, 5.4 rebounds, and 3.6 assists per game in his ABL career.
Avenido, on the other hand, was the first recipient of the league’s Lifetime Achievement Award last season. He led the San Miguel Beermen to the 2012 championship while winning the local MVP plum as well.
Meanwhile, Cañada is a two-time ABL champion. He steered both the Hi-Tech Bangkok City and the Indonesia Warriors to the top of the region.
Completing the list were 2010 Local MVP Attaporn Lertmalaiporn; two-time MVP Wong Wei Long; two-time World MVP Chris Charles; 2017 World MVP Marcus Elliott; league all-time leading scorer Xavier Alexander; and all-time leading rebounder Steven Thomas.
