Fresh off a sting of a loss at the hands of Motolite last Sunday, the PacificTown-Army Lady Troopers vented their ire on the Bali Pure Purest Water Defenders, 25-21, 25-20, 25-21, to gain crucial footing in the PVL Reinforced Conference Season 3, Wednesday afternoon at the FilOil Flying V Centre.
“‘Yun naman ang importante. After a loss kung paano kami magre-recover from two to three days recovery para dito sa Bali Pure,” PacificTown head coach Kungfu Reyes said.
The win buoyed the Lady Troopers’ win-loss slate to 4-3 and helped tighten their grip of the third spot. It also pushed the Water Defenders on the brink of elimination with a 0-7 card.
“Must win ‘to para ma-keep namin ‘yung standing namin o ‘yung ranking namin towards the semifinals. At least medyo safe kami doon sa top four so malaking bagay na nanalo kami ngayon. It’s a big win for us,” Reyes added.
Ukranian reinforcement Olena Lymareva-Flink topped the charts with 15 points, all but two came from spikes.
Tied 20 in the third set, PacificTown-Army unleashed a 3-0 run to mount a 23-20 cushion, before Jenelle Jordan provided the finishing touches.
American import Jordan had 11 points, spiked by two blocks and two aces for the Lady Troopers — who generated seven and five points in the service and blocking department, respectively.
Danijela Dzakovic poured in 14 points built on 13 spikes and a block, on top of 12 excellent digs. Alex Vajdova added 11 markers while Grazielle Bombita managed nine points.
PacificTown tries to topple undefeated Petro Gazz on Sunday, June 23 at the Alonte Sports Arena. Bali Pure takes on Motolite a day before at the FilOil Arena.
