ONIC PH lost steam, bowing down to RRQ Hoshi via a 0-2 sweep in the ONE Esports Mobile Legends: Bang Bang Professional League Invitational, Thursday night.
A botched siege attempt from ONIC PH saw RRQ Hoshi secure crucial kills on Allen “Baloyskie” Baloy (Mathilda), Kairi “Kairi” Rayosdelsol (Lancelot), and Gerald “Dlarskie” Trinchera (Thamuz) which paved the way for the Game One win.
Marky “Markyyyyy” Capacio’s Claude and Ian “Beemo” Sergio’s Jawhead got out of the skirmish. But they later found themselves taken down by the RRQ contingent to complete the win.
RRQ then put on the clamps on ONIC PH in Game Two, running away with a 21-6 win in just 15 minutes and 45 seconds.
Markyyyyy’s Alice – the lone late-game insurance for the Filipinos – saw himself shut down early by the Indonesians. That gave Skylar (Bruno) free reins down the bottom lane.
ONIC PH showed signs of life after a successful Diversion play from Baloyskie’s Luo Yi. However, the same play pushed them to the brink after Alberttt (Lancelot) led RRQ’s ambush near the Fiend pit.
With the win, RRQ Hoshi advanced to the quarterfinals where they will face MPL Malaysia champion Team SMG and their former coach James.
