ONE: Carlos Alvarez puts forth another dominant showing at Lumpinee

Once again, Team Lakay’s Carlos Alvarez left the iconic Lumpinee Boxing Stadium in Bangkok, Thailand in awe on Friday as he captivated the crowd with his performance.

In a featherweight contest on the undercard of ONE Friday Fights 25, Alvarez dominated his Iranian opponent, Sadegh Ghasemi, with a one-sided beatdown.

Similar to his debut in the promotion last April, Alvarez relied on his wrestling-heavy offense to neutralize any advances from Ghasemi and secured an impressive submission victory.

Less than a minute into the first round, the 24-year-old native of Baguio City effortlessly took Ghasemi down to the mat with a bodylock takedown.

From that point on, Alvarez relentlessly attacked with various submission attempts, coming close to finishing the fight with a standing guillotine choke.

Although Ghasemi managed to escape the submission, Alvarez continued to assert his dominance. In the closing moments of the first round, he locked in a triangle choke but fell short of securing the finish.

Nonetheless, Alvarez knew he had the momentum on his side heading into the second round. He wasted no time in taking Ghasemi down again and maintained control throughout the round, leaving the Iranian no room to counter.

Eventually, Alvarez secured a dominant position on the ground and locked in a wrenching D’arce choke. With immense pressure applied, Ghasemi had no choice but to tap, leading referee Herb Dean to stop the fight at 1:23 of the second round.

With this impressive victory over the Iranian debutant, Alvarez improved his record to 3-0, maintaining his 100-percent finishing rate. It marked his second submission win in his promising professional career.
