Nunag proves bane to old NZ NBL team, helps Franklin to second win

Joseph Nunag continued to provide solid off-the-bench effort for Franklin, helping the Bulls gain a 101-85 win over his ex-team Taranaki in the 2021 Sal’s NZ NBL Tournament, Thursday at TSB Stadium.

Nunag, who only averaged 0.6 points, 0.6 rebounds, and 0.3 assists in 18 minutes of action with the Mountainers, had 14 points built on three triples with three assists and three rebounds.

Trailing 45-46 entering the second half, the Bulls had a 30-point third canto, capped by a booming triple by Nunag to gain a 75-66 lead.

Joshua Selby and Zane Waterman then took charge in the final frame to give Franklin its second win in three games.

Selby led the way for Franklin with 34 points on 7-of-10 shooting from downtown while Waterman added 27 points and 16 boards.

Marcel Jones paced Taranaki with 33 points and 10 rebounds. Tai Wynyard tallied 18 points, three boards, and two steals as Taranaki dropped to 0-3.

Former Enderun guard Francis Mulvihill tallied eight points, three rebounds, and two assists for the Mountanairs.
