NU lifer Karl Gloria to remain with Bulldogs

Despite not getting to see a single minute in the University Athletic Association of the Philippines High School Boys’ tournament, National University still rewarded Karl Gloria for his loyalty to the school.

Gloria has accepted the offer of NU to join the Bulldogs for college.

“Very promising player si Karl. If natuloy ‘yung Season 83, siguradong ila-lineup namin siya sa Bullpups,” said Bulldogs head coach Jeff Napa.

Gloria, 18, is set to graduate from Grade 12 next month.

The lanky 6-foot-3 winger from General Santos City has been with the Bullpups since his freshman year.

He then suited up for the Bullpups in tournaments like SMART City Hoops, MMBL, and HDBL.

“Sobrang saya dahil kahit papaano ‘di nila kami napabayaan nung nasa Juniors pa po ako,” Gloria said about NU.

“Isa din po sa rason na nag-commit ako sa NU dahil nakikita ko din po ‘yung sarili ko sa systema nila Coach Jeff, at naniniwala akong mae-expand pa nila ‘yung knowledge ko sa basketball.”

Gloria is the third Bullpup to commit to the Bulldogs.

Earlier, the Jhocson school was able to retain Reyland Torres and PJ Palacielo.

Gloria said that Palecielo also played a huge role in him staying in NU.

“Si PJ kasi isa po sa pinaka-ka-close kong teammate nung nasa juniors pa kami, at ang saya lang po na makakasama ko ulit siya sa college,” expressed Gloria.

Gloria will immediately be eligible for the UAAP Season 84 tournament when it resumes early 2021.

This early, Gloria is already preparing for it.

“Ensayo talaga dito sa bahay, tapos extra workout sa madaling araw sa court namin. Sinusulit ko na ‘yung panahon.”
