There remains no timetable yet as to when Roger Pogoy will be cleared to suit up for TNT after suffering a calf injury in practice.
“Hindi ko pa alam, eh,” the soft-spoken guard told Tiebreaker Times. “PT lang namin ang nakakaalam.
“Pahinga raw muna ako.”
The 29-year-old sat out when the Tropang Giga resumed their 2021-22 PBA Governors’ Cup campaign opposite Magnolia on Friday.
He suffered an injury during one of the team’s practices at the Moro Lorenzo Gym in Katipunan just days before the conference restart.
Given his predicament, Pogoy said that he is also out of TNT’s match versus Phoenix Super LPG on Sunday at 4:00 PM.
Missing the two-way specialist is indeed a tough blow for a team that will figure in a grueling schedule in the first two weeks of the resumption.
After Sunday’s game, the Tropa will go back to action on Wednesday to battle San Miguel. Then they take on defending champs Ginebra on Friday.
The reigning Philippine Cup kings had four games in eight days as the league adjusted the schedule for their Gilas Pilipinas commitment.
TNT will reinforce the youth-laden Nationals in the FIBA World Cup 2023 Asian Qualifiers at the SMART Araneta Coliseum on Feb. 24-28.
Thus, the big cloud of uncertainty floating above the team right now with Pogoy hurt, since he’s expected to be part of the Chot Reyes-coached crew.
It also didn’t help that another veteran internationalist, Poy Erram, went down with an apparent back injury in their 93-96 loss to Hotshots.
Pogoy is taking it day by day and hopes to receive clearance soon.
TNT went down below .500 following Friday night’s defeat. It is currently sitting at no. 8 in the team standings with a 2-3 record.
