Terrence Romeo is just in his second conference with the San Miguel Beermen, but he’s about to play in his second Finals.
He and the Beermen nipped the ever-gutsy Rain or Shine Elasto Painters, 98-95, in the semifinals’ Game Four to forge a duel with the TNT KaTropa for the 2019 PBA Commissioner’s Cup championship.
“Napakalaking saya na nasa Finals uli kami,” said the six-year pro out of FEU moments after the match.
Romeo made a significant impact in the Finals-clinching win. He only finished with two points, but they came at the best possible time. He capped off a 7-0 run that turned a three-point deficit to a 98-94 advantage for SMB.
“Kahit na ano man yung stats ko, ‘di na yun ang mahalaga basta manalo kami.
“Kasi na-experience ko naman na yung maging scoring champ, mag-score ng marami, pero iilan lang yung masaya,” said the three-time scoring champion.
The conference Finals begin this Sunday, and Romeo will face his former team. It will be intriguing to see how the flashy guard will fare against a team with whom he reportedly had a falling-out, which led to his trade to San Miguel.
But just as he said before, it’s not about him versus whoever. It’s all about San Miguel and TNT.
“Walang kulay. San Miguel versus TNT – gagawin ko lang naman yung best ko para makatulong sa team,” Romeo said.
“I’m sure ‘di magiging madali ‘to, kasi sobrang ganda ng nilalaro ng TNT. Kailangan paghandaan namin sila.”
