After a 112-108 Game Three win last Wednesday, Rain or Shine big man Beau Belga said he wants Game Four to be the last match of the 2016 PBA Commissioner’s Cup Finals series.
“Ang nasa isip ko, Friday na lang. Wala nang ibang laro,” Belga said after the Elasto Painters extended their series lead against Alaska to 3-0.
Although comebacks against 0-3 series deficits have been done in the past, Belga does not want to look past Friday as he wants his team to get the job done as early as possible.
Belga also said the Elasto Painters can’t afford to celebrate that much even after moving just a win away from clinching championship. They need to remain focused and exert even more effort to end the series as quickly as they can.
“Yung panalo ngayon, konting celebration lang, then back to practice and focus. Pansamantalang saya lang. Ang full na saya, kapag nagchampion na. Yun ang talagang totally magsasaya ka,” Belga said last night.
Belga added the Elasto Painters can’t lose the series as it would mean more setbacks for head coach Yeng Guiao, who had recently lost in a race for a congressional seat in the first district of Pampanga in the Philippines’ national and local elections.
“Meron syempre. Kaya doble-buhos kami. Konting tiyaga na lang. Isang panalo na lang. As much as possible kung kaya ng Friday, bakit hindi. Konti effort na lang,” he said.
Asked about the proverbial nail that’s keeping the Elasto Painters stuck, Belga said it is close to getting removed and setting them free.
“Three inches nang naka-angat.
