NLEX cops PBA 3-on-3 women’s title

The NLEX Road Warriors swept the Rain or Shine Elasto Painters with an 11-6 Game Two win to rule the second conference of the PBA-Tag Heuer women’s 3-on-3 basketball tournament Monday at the Smart-Araneta Coliseum.

Analyn Almazan scored three of NLEX’s first four points, imposing her will inside the paint as her team took a 4-1 lead. Kath Sandel added a free throw before Ara Abaca ended the drought for Rain or Shine with a basket.

But Angelica Ortega scored two more points as NLEX went ahead, 8-3. Abaca tried to keep Rain or Shine in the game, converting on an and-one play and making a lay-up later on to cut the deficit down to 8-6.

Sandel made a foul shot afterwards, followed by an Almazan basket off a block of Abaca’s attempt, to seal the championship for the Road Warriors.
