Embarking on the biggest tournament they played in, the Philippine Men’s National Football Team will bring a strong lineup to the 2019 AFC Asian Cup.
Headlining the squad are the Younghusband brothers, Phil and James.
Joining them are defenders Carlos de Murga, Stephan Palla, Daisuke Sato, Luke Woodland, and Alvaro Silva; midfielders Adam Tull, Kevin Ingreso, Paul Mulders, Manny Ott, Mike Ott, John-Patrick Strauss, Miguel Tanton, and Stephan Shrock; and forwards Jovin Bedic, Curt Dizon, Javi Patino, Iain Ramsay, and Patrick Reichelt.
Protecting the Philippine fort are Michael Falkesgaard, Kevin Ray Hansen, and Ace Villanueva.
Not in the lineup though is Philippine ace gk Neil Etheridge, who has 63 international appearances to his name.
The 6-foot-2 England-born gk was only allowed to play in one game in the Asian Cup by his club team Cardiff City, a squad that is in danger of relegation in the Premier League.
The team decided to not field him in altogether.
Sven-Goran Eriksson will call the shots on the sidelines together with Scott Cooper, Stefano Marsella, and Chris Greatwich.
The Philippines is grouped with South Korea, China, and Kyrgyzstan in the group stages.
Before their game against Korea on January 7, the Philippines will first face Vietnam in a friendly on December 31.
