Perpetual dumps Letran for solo third

The University of Perpetual Help System DALTA Lady Altas fortified their Final Four bid, booting out the Colegio de San Juan de Letran in four sets, 19-25, 25-20, 25-23, 25-10, Friday afternoon at the FilOil Flying V Centre.

Four players registered double-digit points for the Las Piñas-based squad, with Cindy Imbo leading at 18 markers, 16 on attacks. Bianca Tripoli finished with 17 points, while Lourdes Clemente and Jowie Verzosa had 11 each.

Perps head coach Macky Cariño felt that her wards were simply over-eager to take the win in that first set. “Alam mo ‘yung gustong-gusto mong manalo?

“Yung first set na yun parang tinignan muna nila ‘yung laro ng Letran. Tsaka nila na-realize na, ‘Ah, ganito laro nila,‘” he added.

When asked to comment on the importance of the match against his former team College of Saint Benilde (5-3) on Tuesday, the mentor cleared that it will be pure business for him, and especially, his players.

“Kung ano man ‘yung nangyari, tapos na ‘yun. Kumbaga new chapter na ng life ko ‘to,” Cariño said.

“Sa team ko, gagawin ko lang, I’ll make sure na yung sa game namin against CSB na manalo kami. Kailangan,” he ended.

Glayssa Torres and Charm Simborio led the Knights, who finished at 3-6, at 12 points each.
