NCAA ‘admonishes’ Brent Paraiso for disrespecting game officials

Colegio de San Juan de Letran’s Brent Paraiso was admonished by the NCAA after being caught “disrespecting” the game officials during Game Two of the Seniors Basketball Finals last Sunday.

In a viral clip that surfaced on social media, Paraiso was seen mouthing the crowd’s “foul” chant against the referees in the second quarter after Fran Yu’s disqualifying foul ejection.

“Upon post game review, you were seen on the official game film mouthing what the crowd was chanting against the referee at the 5:29.4 mark of the second quarter in your game yesterday, 11 December 2022 against CSB ‘Referee, Referee t@#ng*mo!’ which is deemed utterly disrespectful to the game offical,” read the memo signed by commissioner Tonichi Pujante.

“According to the NCAA MAnual of Operations Art. 4.3.2 Table of Offenses Sanctions and Art 4.3.2.1 For Players #17. Any player who utters foul language or makes foul gestures at any game official. First offense – Admonition, Second offense a.) ejection from the playing venue b.) Suspension on the next game,” it continued.

Fortunately for him, this is only his first offense since he is set to play in the do-or-die Game Three on Sunday.
