Due to the coronavirus (COVID-19) crisis, the 2020 Chooks-to-Go National Basketball Training Center (NBTC) National Finals has been postponed and tentatively rescheduled.
Originally scheduled to take place from March 21-27, 2020 at the SM Mall of Asia Arena in Pasay City, the tournament backed by Chooks-to-Go, SMART, Vivo, Darlington, Phoenix Fuels, Epson, Gatorade, Go for Gold, and Molten has been moved to April 20-26, 2020 still at the same venue.
The Coaches’ Convention, on the other hand, is scheduled to take place from April 24-26.
Still, NBTC is still taking it day-by-day with regards to the current developments of the global pandemic.
“We are committed to ensuring the health and safety of our attendees as it is our utmost priority,” said NBTC founder Eric Altamirano. “Hence, we have taken the difficult decision of postponing this year’s event to a later date.”
The National Finals will see 32 Philippine teams from all over the world competing in the seven-day meet that will declare the national juniors basketball champion.
The Coaches’ Convention, on the other hand, gathers the country’s top basketball minds in a seminar with world-class basketball tacticians.
Also scheduled during the festivities is the NBTC All-Star Game which features the country’s top high school prospects.
With this, Chooks-to-Go and NBTC are asking the country to stay safe and join hands in these trying times.
“In these times, we must make our personal safety as our priority,” said Bounty Agro Ventures Inc. president Ronald Mascariñas. “Keep indoors if possible and pray for the safety of our countrymen.”
“We ask for your understanding as this decision has been made in consideration of the safety of the participants and the audience. Thank you for your continued support and cooperation,” added Altamirano.
