NBL Finals a go as Pampanga, La Union test negative for COVID-19

The NBL Season 3 Black Arrow Express-President’s Cup finals between Pampanga and La Union is a go after all delegates from the teams and the league staff tested negative of COVID-19.

All NBL staff and representatives from the Games and Amusements Board entered the league’s bubble at the Bren Z. Guiao Convention Center in San Fernando, Pampanga last Monday. They immediately underwent antigen swab tests, with all of them testing negative.

Pampanga and La Union also entered the bubble on Monday. The Delta and the PAOwer previously underwent COVID-19 tests shortly before entering the bubble and all also came in negative.

The NBL delegates inside the bubble will underwent two more swab tests during the entire best-of-five finals series to ensure the safety of everyone. Temperature checks and mistings take place regularly while inside the bubble as part of the health protocols implemented.

Referees will also receive protective equipment as part of the safety protocols during game days.

Following the test results, La Union and Pampanga held practices two days before Game 1 slated on Thursday, 6 p.m. It will be aired live on the NBL-Pilipinas Facebook page, then on a delayed basis the next day on Solar Sports.

La Union and Pampanga will play for the season title following the postponement of the playoffs last March due to the pandemic. The PAOwer and Delta are two of the top teams this season, having finished the eliminations with a similar 5-1 win-loss slate.
