Navarro, David on facing San Sebastian: ‘Parang nasa scrimmage lang’

Renzo Navarro and Jayson David once again shared the court with the San Sebastian College-Recoletos Golden Stags, Tuesday afternoon.

However, they were on opposing ends.

Two years ago, the two, together with Jerwyn Guinto and Alvin Baetiong, moved out of Recto to move to Intramuros.

And when they saw their old teammates and friends once again on the court, it felt like old times.

“Inenjoy ko lang yung game parang nasa scrimmage lang ako sa Baste, parang dati lang,” shared David.

“Since high school dun ako naglaro e, ngayon kalaban ko sila sa NC siyempre laging may extra motivation for me,” added Navarro.

“Enjoy talaga kasi pag kalaro mo mga kapatid mo rin, mga teammates mo before.”

Before the game, Topex Robinson made sure to talk to his team, the majority of whom have played for San Sebastian — including Jeff Santos, Nino Ibanez, Spencer Pretta, and Rhanzelle Yong.

“We were not out here to play for ourselves.

“Yes, they played for San Sebastian two years ago and they’re gonna play their first game against their former team but it’s not Jayson and Renzo against San Sebastian, it’s about LPU vs San Sebastian. Di nila laban yun, they’re just there to support each other,” said Robinson, who also studied and played for San Sebastian.

And the two helped Lyceum storm back from 13 down.

David and Navarro knocked down triple to cut the lead down to two midway through the final frame while Navarro pocketed another triple with under three minutes left to give Lyceum a 74-66 lead.NCAA-95-LPU-vs.-SSCR-David-2674 Navarro, David on facing San Sebastian: 'Parang nasa scrimmage lang' Basketball NCAA News SSC-R - philippine sports news

Navarro ended up with 11 points while David scattered 10 points, six rebounds, three assists, and a steal to help Lyceum pick up an 80-69 win over their former school.

For them, they are just glad to find a home in Lyceum.

“Di ako nahirapan kasi sobrang bait ng tao sa LPU lalo na nung naoperahan ako, six months ako napahinga, di nila ako tinigilan imotivate para di mawala yung focus ko sa game sa parating na season na to,” expressed David.

“Every game ko sobrang excited ako. One year akong nagsitout, nanggaling pa akong La Salle, so one year, pahinga tapos laro parang paputol putol ako so ngayon excited talaga ako kasi magtutuloy tuloy ako dito,” closed Navarro.
