FEU head coach Nash Racela has a different dream
For the last two seasons, both the Ateneo de Manila University Blue Eagles and the De La Salle University Green Archers have been absent from the UAAP Men’s Basketball Finals picture. Moreover, the two rivals last faced each other eight years ago, during the 71st Season of the league.
According to Far Eastern University Tamaraws head coach Nash Racela, the “powers-that-be” are angling towards that finals pairing after his team’s second seed hopes turned slim.
“Depends after this game, who we face, either La Salle or Ateneo,” Racela said after FEU’s 64-61 win over the University of the East. “But we are confident about who we’ll face.”
However, Racela, who has helped steer FEU to two straight Finals appearances, quickly pointed out that certain “people” might force the issue regarding the potential “dream match.”
“Ang problema ko is yung dream match-up. Because now people are putting it to people’s minds that there’s a dream match-up.
“I don’t know, I just heard about the dream match-up and they missed it for a number of years now everyone want to see that. That’s my concern if ipipilit nila iyon,” the 44-year-old mentor furthered.
Racela himself has a different dream, and he hopes that his team can help him achieve it.
“I know FEU and Adamson both want to be in the Finals and I think we are deserving to be there,” he said. “We’ll try our best to deny that dream because I have a better dream.”
“I have a different dream and there’s a different match-up in my dreams,” he quipped.
