Rey Nambatac is listed as day-to-day after suffering a knee injury shortly before the 2021-22 PBA Governors’ Cup resumption.
According to a broadcast report, the lefty gunner suffered an injury during Rain or Shine’s tuneup game versus Magnolia last Monday.
He began undergoing therapy a couple of days later, but did not see action in the Elasto Painters’ meeting with NorthPort on Saturday night.
The 27-year-old watched from the team’s bench as he witnessed his side collect the 104-90 victory. That improved their card to 3-3.
Head coach Chris Gavina allayed fears of a serious injury.
“He just had a slight knee sprain. It’s something that he just needs a few days’ rest for,” he said moments after the match at SMART Araneta Coliseum.
It was the first time in this conference that Nambatac sat out.
The 5-foot-11 playmaker played in all of Rain or Shine’s first five outings. He averaged 18.0 points, 3.0 rebounds, and 1,2 steals.
Gavina believes that Nambatac could return to action on Thursday, when the Elasto Painters take on Alaska at 6:00 PM.
“I think he’ll be ready by next Thursday,” he said.
