MPL PH shoutcaster Uomi to lead UST in inaugural UAAP Esports

MPL PH shoutcaster Theo “Uomi” Ignacio officially announced on Wednesday that he will be heading back to his roots to lead the University of Santo Tomas (UST) in the inaugural Mobile Legends: Bang Bang demo event of UAAP Season 87.

“Announcing that I will be the head coach of UST Teletigers Esports Club for MLBB this inaugural UAAP esports season,” said Uomi in a Facebook post.

Uomi, a former League of Legends player, is a pioneer in the campus esports scene in the country and founded the Teletigers Esports Club during his time at UST. He has already coached the squad in numerous collegiate tournaments over the past year.

Uomi first started casting in MPL Philippines Season 6 and has been a regular part of the league’s broadcast team since.

The UAAP made a groundbreaking move by introducing esports as a demo event for the upcoming season.

In addition to MLBB, the esports event will also feature VALORANT and NBA 2K.
