The MPL Philippines finally received permission from the Games and Amusement Board to hold the upcoming Season Nine offline, Friday evening.
Moonton Games Public Relation Manager for the Philippines Keith Medrano confirmed the development to Tiebreaker Times.
The first four weeks of the tournament will take place online before the league transitions to a full offline setting in Week Five up until the playoffs.
Fans, however, are still not allowed inside the venue. Medrano also noted that strict protocols will be implemented inside the venue, and the number of personnel entering the venue will be limited.
“We received approval to go on-site during Week 5, until the playoffs, while strictly adhering to the safety protocols,” Medrano said.
“Note though that there will be no audience during the games and we’re limiting the venue to the players, casters, and staff,” he added.
Kick-starting the MPL’s return to the offline stage are the Blacklist International-ONIC PH match on March 22 at 6:00 PM. Then comes the Omega Esports-TNC bout at 8:00 PM.
The league will open on February 18, Friday.
