Mike Nieto signs two-year deal with ROS

Mike Nieto has opened a new chapter in his career.

Nieto has inked a two-year deal with Rain or Shine, Friday morning.

Rain or Shine governor Mert Mondragon, team manager Jireh Ibanes, and head of basketball operations Caloy Garcia welcomed Nieto to the team. Accompanying the 24-year-old Ateneo product was his manager PJ Pilares of Titan Management Group.

During his time with Gilas, Nieto suited up for a total of five games. He played thrice in the 2021 FIBA Asia Cup Qualifiers. He averaged 4.7 points, 2.3 rebounds, and 1.3 assists while helping his side finish the tilt with a 6-0 card.

He then normed 3.0 points, 1.5 rebounds, and 1.0 assists during the Olympic Qualifying Tournament-Belgrade.

Nieto, who stands at 6-foot-2, has been described by former Gilas head coach Tab Baldwin as his vocal leader on the court.

“We have always held Mike in high regard due to his high basketball IQ and competitive nature,” said Rain or Shine head coach Chris Gavina.
