Mika Reyes transfers from Petron to Sta. Lucia

Less than a month before the 2020 Philippine Superliga Grand Prix, Sta. Lucia has found its cornerstone in its rebuild.

The Lady Realtors pulled off a major recruitment coup after acquiring the services of one of the finest middle blockers in the country in Mika Reyes. She was introduced by the team through its social media accounts, Wednesday morning.

“Mika Reyes said, ‘Yes!’ Yes to taking on new challenges. Yes to a new environment. And yes to being a part of the New Sta. Lucia.

“And with that, we officially welcome you to the Sta. Lucia family, Mike Reyes! Let’s get it,” the announcement read.

Given this, Reyes has officially left the fold of Petron.

There, the 25-year-old was a key cog to Shaq Delos Santos’ system, playing an integral role to the success of the Blaze Spikers for the past three years. She had five titles with arguably the most decorated club team in the league, and plenty of championship experience to boot.

The former La Salle standout will now spearhead the rebuilding Sta. Lucia, which parted ways with erstwhile head coach Babes Castillo; as well as Eli Soyud, Amanda Villanueva, Rachel Austero, Rebecca Rivera ,and Roselle Baliton. Still, the team has yet to announce the rest of its pieces that will surround the towering stalwart.

Reyes and the Lady Realtors seek to rise from contender afterthought to legitimate contenders when the import-flavored conference kicks off in February.
