Mika Reyes out of action for PVL All-Filipino Conference

Mika Reyes will miss the entire 2024 Premier Volleyball League All-Filipino Conference, as confirmed by PLDT head coach Rald Ricafort during the PVL Media Day at the TV5 Media Center on Monday night.

Reyes underwent an operation to address her nagging right shoulder injury, which has been bothering her since last year.

“Si Mika, nagre-rehab. Ngayong conference? Hindi, hindi siya makakalaro. Nag-ano siya, operation. Same pa rin ng dati,” Ricafort told members of the press.

“Wala pang definite eh. Pero sure na yung ngayong conference na off muna siya,” said Ricafort.

With Reyes out, Ricafort is looking at newcomer Majoy Baron to fill the huge gap left by their starting middle blocker.

The PVL champion coach will also be banking on the likes of Dell Palomata, Rachel Austero, and Jessey De Leon to try and help man the middle for the High Speed Hitters.

The team missed the semifinals in the previous conference after finishing in fifth place.

“Sakto naman nga kasi si Majoy (Baron) naman yung pumalit so kahit papaano kung hindi ‘man better pa, okay naman din. Tapos nandun pa naman si (Jessey) De Leon at (Rachel) Austero so apat pa rin naman sila,” he added.
