MDL PH: GameLab stops Echo’s win run ahead of playoffs

GameLab will begin its playoff campaign with much-need momentum after a scintillating 2-1 reverse sweep of Echo Proud during their final regular season match-up in the Mobile Legends Development League (MDL) Philippines Season 1 on Thursday.

The MDL Philippines Season 1 playoffs will open on Monday, April 3.

Vincent Brian “Takenaga” Montilla displayed impressive mechanical prowess in handling the jungler Fanny pick en route to back-to-back MVPs and help GameLab register their 10th win as the Top seed in Group A.

Echo, already assured of the top spot in Group B, succumbed to their first loss since a close 2-1 loss to Smart Omega Neos last February 21 where jungler Justine “Zaida” Palma forgot to change his spell to retribution that led to the one-sided rubber match.

Joining GameLab in the playoffs from Group A are Blacklist Academy and RSG Ignite who both scored separate sweeps on the last day of the regular season.

They finish in a tie-for-second in the group after finishing with similar 7-6 cards (22pts).

Nexplay Evos Tiger Cubs, who went on a five-game winning streak since the mid-season, missed the playoffs despite an 8-5 record owing to lower points total at 19, finishing fourth in Group A.

Bren Euphoria Esports, on the other hand, will take the second seed in Group B owing to Smart Omega’s loss to RSG today. Omega will be relegated to the third seed in the playoff picture.
