Matthew Wright returns to Gilas practice

Another new face came into Gilas Pilipinas’ practice, Thursday evening at the Meralco Gym in Pasig City.

Matthew Wright joined the Nationals in the resumption of their preparations for the 2019 FIBA World Cup.

This marked the return of the Phoenix Pulse Fuel Masters star after a long while.

The 6-foot-2 guard averaged 5.9 points, 1.3 rebounds, and 1.4 assists in nine games in the Asian Qualifiers.

Wright joined Kiefer Ravena, Paul Lee, Raymond Almazan, CJ Perez, Japeth Aguilar, Troy Rosario, and Beau Belga, who once again took part in the session to provide an extra body.

Gabe Norwood, Marcio Lassiter, and June Mar Fajardo were present but watched their teammates from the sidelines.

Stanley Pringle, who volunteered in Gilas’ practice last week, dropped by and watched as well.

Robert Bolick, Mark Barroca, and Roger Pogoy were absent.

Gilas leave for Spain in a month’s time before heading to China for the World Cup.

The Philippines is bracketed with Serbia, Italy, and Angola in Group D.
